Privacy Policy

Velita helps you remember birthdays and share your own. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account info: your name, the email or phone number you sign in with, your time zone and language.
Your birthday (month and day, and year if you add it). Your birth year is never shown publicly.
The birthdays you save: names, dates, optional notes, tags and phone numbers you choose to add.
Your public page content if you create one: photo, short bio, wishlist and favorites.
Basic usage events (for example, that a page was viewed or a reminder was opened) so we can improve the app. These never include phone numbers, emails or birthdays.
If you write to us through the contact form: your email, your message, and your name if you give it. We use them only to answer you.
Google data (Connect Google)
If you choose Connect Google, we ask Google for read-only access to two things: your Google Contacts (names, phone numbers, email addresses and birthdays) and your Google Calendar events that repeat yearly and look like birthdays (titles containing words such as “birthday”, “bday”, “cumple” or “cumpleaños”).
We use this data only to show you a preview list of birthdays to import. Nothing is saved until you tap Save, and then only the rows you chose (name, date, and optionally phone or email).
We do not store calendar event contents, we do not keep your unsaved contacts after the import screen closes, and we do not use Google data for advertising or sell it.
We cannot change or delete anything in your Google account. We use the access once, for the import you started, and revoke it as soon as the import finishes, so nothing stays connected.
Velita's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Phone numbers and finding friends
Phone numbers are stored in international format. To help friends find each other, we compare numbers as one-way scrambled fingerprints, never raw. We never show anyone's phone number to another person.
How we use your data
To show your list, send the reminders you asked for (calendar, email or text), run your public page, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data.
Who can see what
Your saved list is private to you. Your public page shows only what you put on it, and you choose Public, Followers only, or Private. Gift claims on your wishlist are never visible to you, so surprises stay surprises.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to host the app and database, send email and text messages, and (if you use it) connect to Google. They process data only to provide the service to us.
Your choices
Download all your data or delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account removes your data; entries others saved about you stay in their own lists as plain names and dates without a link to you.
We keep a nightly backup copy of the data for 30 days, in case something breaks. Anything you delete is gone from the backups within 30 days.
You can unsubscribe from reminder emails with the link in any email, or switch reminders off in Settings.
If you don't use Velita
People who use Velita save the birthdays of friends and family. What they save about you can include your name, your birthday (sometimes with the year), a phone number or email if they imported you from their contacts, and a private note they wrote for themselves. Friends can also leave notes on someone's birthday page.
Only the person who saved it can see it. We never message you, never show it to anyone else, and never use it for advertising or sell it.
If a friend sent you a link to add your birthday, you typed it in yourself, and it goes only to that friend.
To ask us to remove what is saved about you, use our contact form and tick "I want my data removed". Add your name and, if you can, the phone number or email a friend may have saved. We may ask you to confirm it's you. We remove it within 30 days and tell you when it's done.
Children
Velita is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. Saving a child's birthday in your own list is fine.
